Mohd Asaduddin is author, critic and translator in several languages, and writes on literature, language politics and translation studies. He is currently Professor and Chair, Department of English, Jamia Millia Islamia, and Director, Jamia Centenary History Project. He has lectured/led workshops at the universities of Delhi, Paris, Oxford, Chicago, New York and many other prestigious institutions. His recent publications include Filming Fiction: Tagore, Premchand and Ray (Ed., with Anuradha Ghosh, OUP, 2012) and The Penguin Book of Classic Urdu Stories (Ed., Penguin, 2006). He is the Vice Chair, Indian Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies (IACLALS). He is a regular speaker at literary festivals on translated literature and has received Katha Award, Dr A.K. Ramanujan Award, Sahitya Akademi (National Academy of Letters) Award and Crossword Book Award for translations.
