Rod Bolitho is a freelance trainer and educational consultant and was Academic Director of Norwich Institute for Language Education (NILE) from 2007 – 2015, where he was also Course Leader of the MA in Professional Development for Language Education. He started out teaching English in Germany and has been active in teacher education and trainer training for over 30 years. He has been consultant to a number of British Council projects since 1989, including (in India) the CBSE Curriculum Reform Project and the CPD Think Tank , and is currently involved in national-level Teacher Education and Curriculum Development initiatives in Uzbekistan and Ukraine. He has contributed to a number of conferences and training events in India over the years, and recently co-facilitated an in-house development seminar for EFLU, Hyderabad. He also gave the opening keynote address at TEC 2015 in Hyderabad.
He has authored many articles and a number of books, including (with Brian Tomlinson) 'Discover English' , (with Richard Rossner) ‘Currents of Change in ELT’, (with Tony Wright) 'Trainer Development', and (with Amol Padwad) ‘Continuing Professional Development: Lessons from India’. He is currently working with Amol on another book on CPD for Cambridge University Press, India.
Rod’s main professional interests are in CPD, Trainer Development, Langauge Awareness, Language in Teacher Education, Materials and Curriculum Development and English for Specific Purposes.
