Dr.S.C.Sood has done his
M.A. and M.Phil. in English Literature from Delhi University, PGDTE from CIEFL Hyderabad, M.A. in Language and Literature in Education from London Institute of Education, and Ph.D. from JNU.

He joined Dyal Singh College (Delhi University) in 1969 as Assistant Lecturer and retired from the post of Associate Professor in English in 2006. During this period he was appointed Professor of English on deputation at College of Teacher Education and Health Sciences, M/o Education, Ethiopia from 1996 – 1998 under UNDP.

He has also taught at various orientation and refresher courses conducted by SCERT Delhi for school teachers and at Summer Institutes in English for college teachers including Personal Contact Programmes for participants at CIEFL Hyderabad. Presently he is free-lancing primarily for a foreign mission in Delhi engaged in conducting Cambridge University examinations.

| Dr. Sood is actively engaged in curriculum designing, materials writing, teacher education, testing and evaluation, and rendering consultancy services with particular reference to English for non-native speakers and has published books, papers and articles on various aspects of English Language and Literature in journals of repute both in India and abroad. He was a member of the review committee for CDC in English (UGC), Convener of the syllabus revision committee, and Coordinating Editor of the Editorial Committee for preparation of textbooks for English Course B of the B.A. (Pass) 3-year degree course appointed in 1985 by Delhi University Department of English. |
| Dr. Sood was awarded scholarship by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and the British Council under Technical Cooperation and Training Programme to study for an M.A. Degree in Language and Literature in Education at the Institute of Education, University of London (1983-84). He is a Founder Member of Forum of Teachers of Language and Literature (FORTELL) and its former Vice-President, and President; Life Member of Shakespeare Society of India; and Life Member of Indian Association for English Studies.
